Forthcoming Activities:-
On June 7th it will be the Club's 34th Charter anniversary
The Club will be actively involved in the Sponsored Canal Towpath Walk in September 2008 with all proceeds going to Myasthenia Gravis Association. The walk is along the towpath of the Manchester to Leeds Canal from Manchester Basin to Lock 16 at Todmorden, Yorkshire.
The following Lions Clubs will all be involved.
Oldham/Rochdale/Middleton/West Tameside/Littleborough/Stretford/Todmorden. 3 members did the walk from Rochdale to Todmorden.
The Club attended the Shaw Dickensian Charity Market, and we put on the Christmas Party for the elderly at the home where we do the Bingo each month. We will be doing our Annual Fun Day again, at a different venue, on Sunday 25th May 2008.
Two members attended the Lions Clubs International Convention held in Chicago July 2 - 6th.
Activities : We do Bingo sessions at a Elderly Home.
Overnight Toilet Packs for families of Hospital Patients.
Taking part in the ParaTed Project.
The supplying of Teddy Bears to Ambulance crews for children to cuddle as a comfort, and to show on the Teddy, where their pain is located. The Club is also involved in the Zone Project of knitting Teddy Bears for onward transportation to South Africa for Street Children. Also involved in another Zone Project, the buying and distribution of "SPIKEY'S" a small gadget that is inserted into bottles of alcohol to stop them being spiked.
The Club are activily involved with the Bottle in the Fridge Project and make frequent presentations to other Organisations and distribute the bottles to people attending the presentations.
Xmas Decorations for A&E at the Royal Oldham Hospital
Raised money to sponsor the upkeep of 3 Guide Dog Puppies for 18 months.
We have taken children to the circus and local pantomimes.
Oldham Lions is also very active in it's Zone, working with other clubs and attending Zone Socials and other clubs Charter Nights. The Club will be attending the Albert Royle Memorial Zone Function to be held at Denton West Working Men's Ckub on Thursday May 24th.
We have a good social life.
We have attended the District 105BN Convention in Windermere 2007, Heywood Lions Club Charter, Rochdale Lions Club Charter. Manchester Chinatown Lions Club Charter
